Golf Cart - Etiquette
Golf carts can do any number of things nowadays, but their favorite home will always be the golf course. That said, driving on the course requires that you know the proper etiquette to avoid breaking rules and getting in people’s way. We here at Revel 42 Golf Carts & Powersports want to help you and those around have fun on the green, so we’ve put together some basics on golf cart etiquette. To learn more, or to see the golf carts we have for sale, contact our store in Garner, North Carolina, today!
Be Courteous
You wouldn’t want someone else encroaching on your space and bugging you, so it only makes sense that you keep your distance from other players while driving around the golf course. Generally try to avoid breaking other people’s concentration or otherwise distracting them.
Limit Noise
As relaxing or fun as it can be to blast your favorite playlist as you drive, that has the potential to both distract and annoy other golfers. It can even distract other people trying to drive, which is seriously dangerous. We recommend either keeping the music soft, using one headphone (while keeping one ear free to listen to your environment), or just waiting to listen to music until later.
Avoid Wet Turf
If your golf cart is just for use on golf courses, chances are it can’t handle serious puddles and mud. But did you know that the cart can also damage the landscape by driving on wet turf? Your wheels can dirty and tear the turf, leaving marks and damage and making the landscape look just a bit worse.
Know The Rules
Every golf course and club will have its own rules about how, when, and where you can drive your cart, and you should follow them to the letter. Rules can be posted on signage both at the clubhouse and around the course, so pay close attention. If you don’t see any rules, ask an employee to ensure that you’re not missing anything that could get you in trouble.
No Joyrides
As fun as it can be to drive an open-air vehicle like a golf cart, they’re not there for your entertainment. Driving fast and breaking rules is more than disrespectful, it’s dangerous. Golf carts can easily tip over if driven too fast or turned too sharply, potentially injuring you, your passengers, and nearby pedestrians.
Let People Take Their Turn
If there are other golfers waiting for their turn to play the area you’re finishing up, it’s better to walk to your cart and drive on before marking your scorecard. This helps keep everyone moving forward at a reasonable pace.
We hope these tips make sense and help you enjoy your next golf cart ride at the course!
