You may not know it, but golf carts make great off-roading vehicles. While it requires a few adjustments, the process of turning a golf cart into an all-terrain vehicle is relatively simple. Just take a look at our helpful article below to learn how! If you’re still in the market for a golf cart, feel free to visit our location in Ganer, North Carolina to grab your new model today.

Tires

The first thing you’ll want to upgrade on your golf cart is the wheels. Before you do, try to take a moment to consider where you’ll be driving. If you still have plans to hit the green with your new off-roading vehicle, you’ll want to select some soft tread all-terrain wheels. If you see yourself driving through quite a bit of mud, we suggest buying all-terrain tires with tougher tread. If you think you might be driving through the sand on a regular basis, you may want to look into a set of paddle tires for your golf cart.

Lift

Before you place your new tires on your cart you’ll need to lift it up with a lifting kit. While lifting kits are not inexpensive, they’re not unaffordable either and will help you prepare your cart to handle terrain it previously wouldn’t have been able to handle. This is also the perfect option if you’re a bit unfamiliar with golf cart maintenance, as these kits come with helpful instructions and diagrams.

Accessories

While these items are not required for turning your golf cart into an off-roading vehicle, they are extremely helpful. However, it is completely up to you whether or not you choose to include these items in your customization. Your previous leaf springs likely won’t be able to handle the new weight of your golf cart, now that it’s been lifted and outfitted with heavier tires. They may also struggle to handle uneven terrain, resulting in an extremely bumpy ride. If you can, we advise upgrading them, as well as adding a windshield, seatbelts, and headlights onto your cart's body.
