Golf carts can be useful at the golf course, around your campus, and even for off-roading, but they can be a hefty investment. We here at Revel 42 Golf Carts & Powersports want you to have the tools you need without breaking the bank, so we’ve put together some tips for buying a used golf cart, below. The Search

When searching for a used golf cart, keep in mind that used models are bound to have plenty of reviews and information about them. If you find a model or even just a brand you like, look around online to see if there are any consistent trends in customer reviews. While you should take anything you read online with a grain of salt, enough people saying the same thing about a golf cart can be a good indicator for how it’ll hold up for you.

The Cart

When you find a specific sale you’re interested in, you’ll want to evaluate and inspect the golf cart thoroughly. Check for:

The cart’s age. Golf carts older than 15 years will be significantly cheaper, but they’ll be more prone to breakdowns and might use parts that have been discontinued.

The battery’s age. Batteries need replacing every 3 years or so, so check to see how soon you’ll need to replace the current one.

Usage hours. Gas carts can go about 1,000-2,500 hours of use before they need a service visit. Electric models can go between 40,000-50,000 amp-hours of use before they need an overhaul.
