Safety Gear For Riding Scooters
Scooters don’t exactly have a reputation for being wild and dangerous, but the open seat and small size still make safety gear a necessity. We here at Revel 42 Golf Carts & Powersports want to help you stay in one piece, so we’ve put together some of the safety gear essentials for riding scooters, below. To learn more, or to see the scooters we have for sale, contact our store in Garner, North Carolina, today!
Headgear
First and foremost, you need a crash-test certified helmet that fits you nicely. The right helmet can save your life, so make sure you grab one that’s not too big or too small. Too big and it will bounce around and slip, too small and it might constrict blood flow and cause headaches—and both scenarios mean less protection.
You should also wear eye and ear protection. Sunglasses will help keep the wind and debris out of your eyes, and earplugs or wax balls for your ears will keep road noise from damaging your hearing.
Clothing
Always make sure to wear tough, full-length clothes when riding your scooter. A long-sleeved shirt or riding jacket can keep you from skinning your arms, while long pants will do the same for your legs. You’ll also ideally want riding boots that go above your ankles for optimal foot protection, but never wear open-toed, slip-on, or canvas shoes. Gloves can help keep your grip tight and keep your hands safe in case of an accident.
We hope these tips help keep you safer on your next scooter journey!
